Anna

 So a few years ago I knew this girl who by the way was one of the most amazing people I have ever met.  And not to sound to cliche, but she taught me more about life in the few short years I knew her than I feel I have ever been able to learn since.  She attacked life with such a drive and passion to love God and love others.  In 1995 she was diagnosed with Leukemia.  She would spend the next year battling this disease.  While in the hospital she decorated her room with the artwork of one of her favorites, Mary Engelbreit.  It was during this stay that she had a profound impact on the staff at the hospital and one of them decided to give Mary Engelbreit a call.  They told she had to meet this amazing girl.  It was because of the nurse's description of Anna Joy that she decided to meet her.  After Anna passed away in August of 1996 Mary drew this card to honor her.  I know this sounds like a crazy story and to be honest I don't know exactly why I told now, except that Anna has been on my heart a lot lately.  I guess it is because St. Baldrick's is coming up and it is an event that is used to raise money so that kids like Anna will not have to go through such pain anymore. I was eleven when Anna died and the affect of her spirit stays will me, even after all this time.  

I was working on this slide show presentation for my sister for the event next weekend and I was looking at pictures of all these precious kids and it just broke my heart.  I think I cried most of the way through making it.  I was timing it to go with the song Skin (Most people call it Sarah Beth I think) by Rascal Flatts it is such a good song.  And very appropriate for the occasion.  But I found myself once again being reminded of how deeply impacted I have been by someone who was still so young.  What an amazing legacy she has left behind.

I was at church tonight watching the kids just go crazy and I had to stop and wonder...WHAT DO THEIR PARENTS FEED THEM?!  I mean honestly at the age 12/13 I remember being able to sit still for 10-15 minutes and listen.  But apparently that is not possible anymore. I mean WOW!! They are nuts, I actually saw them depants each other tonight....at church? I mean really?! are you kidding me.  Don't get me wrong I love these kids and I think the world of them I just think that at their age they should be able to sit still...and not do the depants thing at church.  Good Grief.

Well anyway,so the next few weekends should be well busy I have something going on every weekend from now until I don't know when.  This weekend I have a reunion thing for this organization I was in high school it should be fun I have not seen most of those people in 5 years I guess.  Then next weekend my friend Danyelle is getting married and I have St. Baldrick's.  So I am going to spend a good deal of my time next Saturday in the car...oh goody.  But I can't wait until next Saturday, I am really looking forward to St. Baldrick's it is a great event and it raises money for such a good cause... the National Childhood Cancer Foundation.  I am not shaving my head, but I am trying to raise money for them and I am donating my hair to Lock's of Love, another organization that helps cancer patients.    Well I guess I should get to bed I am kinda tired and I have to work tomorrow.  Goodnight all.

Home Sick

So every winter I tell myself I won't get sick, but it never really seems to work.  Right now I am at home sick from work, which isn't good because I had alot to do today.  I am supposed to be staying in bed, but what can I say I don't listen very well.  I am also supposed to not be talking...which my family thinks is hilarious.  I don't mind that so much because it kind hurts when I try.  The doctor said my vocal chords are swollen..blah!!  I guess I could be practicing my guitar, seeing as I have lessons on Saturday. But I just have  NO energy.  I think I still have a fever and my medicine makes me drowsy...that's no good at all, well maybe it is it kinda of helps me sleep.  Anyways I will right more when I feel better.
